Microgaming Confirms Sale of Its Quickfire Brand to Games Global Limited

Men Shaking Hands Over Business DealMicrogaming has revealed it is to sell its Quickfire brand of slots and table games to a brand new online casino operator.

Games Global Limited is the brainchild of former IGT chief Walter Bugno and the former CFO at Playtech, Tim Mickley.

The amount that will change hands has not been disclosed, but if Games Global satisfy regulatory approval then the deal will be completed in the second quarter of 2022.

It will be a unique starting point for the new firm, who will gain a library of some 400 games from one of the most respected developers in the sector. Quickfire have produced table games from across the board, including roulette, blackjack and poker, as well as traditional and progressive jackpot slots.

The Quickfire has won countless industry awards too, and this brand is responsible for the advent of the unique ‘243 Ways to Win’ game mechanic – an innovation that did away with the standard left-to-right payline wins that online slots are known for.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Global Games will inherit Quickfire’s current client base as well – that has been pegged at around 900 different casinos and gaming brands in total.

According to a press statement released by Microgaming, they will ‘continue to supply certain customers with its turnkey games platform’, although the firm readily admits that its key area of focus moving forward will be the ‘development and licensing of its sports betting technology.’

The firm’s CEO, John Coleman, said:

“This is an exciting deal that has been in the making for some time, and which will provide new growth and opportunity for both Microgaming and Games Global.

“Games Global will acquire the game IP and distribution business previously known as Quickfire, and Microgaming will continue to support its core traditional business, while increasing its reach with the addition of new business and managed services.”

It’s a time of much change for Microgaming, with Coleman set to step down from his role at the end of the year to be replaced by the firm’s current COO, Andrew Clucas.

Going Global

If you are going to launch a completely new operation in an already packed industry, it’s pretty smart to buddy up with a well-known and respected brand in the sector.

Games Global will enjoy a tremendous boost in calling Quickfire’s games their own, and all told they will command a library of more than 3,000 titles thanks to other deals they have struck.

More than 260 existing customers will be on the books across some 980 gaming brands, and to power the organisation their employee base will grow to around 1,100 people in areas as far flung as Europe, North America and South Africa.

“We are seeing a very vibrant gaming market at present across the world, with many new regulated markets coming online,” Bugno revealed.

“The creation of a new large-scale independent supply chain that Games Global will be, has not been witnessed for many years. We are committed to delivering a world-class best-of-breed product and services offering that will ultimately enhance the end user’s gaming experience, and help drive our customers’ businesses.”
